Some features of IELTS Listening Test

 Today I have completed Unit 7 on my online IELTS course. The unit 7 was about listening skills. Over the unit I've looked at such listening skills as predicting, identifying key words, paraphrasing, listening for specific information, listening intensively and identifying attitudes of speakers. I have paid attention to the task types that appear in the IELTS Listening Test. They are the following:
  •  plan/map/diagram labelling;
  • multiple choice;
  • matching;
  • short-answer question;
  • sentence/table/form/chat/summary;
  • note completion
Now I know that IELTS Listening Test includes four sections. There are 40 questions. Each correct answer receives 1 point. The candidates hear the conversation only once. You can hear different accents in speech. There is a pause after each listening task and you have time to transfer your answers on a test-paper. Spelling is important.

Section 1 is a conversation between two people set in an everyday social context;Section 2 is a monologue set in an everyday social context;Section 3 is a conversation between up to four people set in an educational or training context;Section 4 is a monologue on an academic subject.I'll practice tasks of Sections 3 and 4 on Unit 8.
