•  Записати нові слова в словник та вивчити їх: deforestration=clear-cutting-вирубка лісів/знищення дерев, emit-1) випромінювати, 2) вивергати; consume-1) споживати 2) випалювати; fertilize-удобрювати, compost-компост, carbon footprints-сукупність викидів усіх парникових газів, to ban-забороняти, hazardous-небезпечний, contamination-забруднення, emission-викид/виділення, to destroy-знищувати, eruption-виверження

• Опрацювати нову лексику в наступних реченнях  та записати переклад до них в класний зошит:

1. Most of the lava was emitted during the first few hours of eruption.
2. Let's fertilize the garden in order to make vegetables grow well on it.
3. Deforestration is destroying large areas of tropical rain forest.
4. Burning fossil fuels release emissions that are harmful to the environment. 
5. The contamination has spread to tap water in Tokyo.
6. The fire quickly consumed all the nearest forests. 
7. The government has banned the import of hazardous chemicals.
8. They make compost from leaves and use it for fertilizer.

Earth Day

Many countries around the world celebrate Earth Day. It is a day that is meant to raise awareness and appreciation about the Earth's natural environment.

The first Earth Day was held in the USA. It was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in - a sort of general educational forum or seminar. That was on April 22, 1970. While this first Earth Day was focused on the United States, an organization launched by Denis Hayes, who was the original national coordinator in 1970, took it international in 1990 and organized events in 141 nations.

Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year. Numerous communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues. In 2009, the United Nations designated April 22 International Earth Mother Day.
